Well, first off... I'll explain forum role playing. Since, that is probably what you are here for.
Forum role playing is a growing way to role play, since you can role play with people from all over the country and the world. It is quiet different from tabletop, in the sense that there are no dice involved. You still make a character, and use them in the role playing game. But the difference is, you write out what your character is doing, how they are doing it, ect. It's a lot like writing a book, but with other people interjecting their characters thoughts and motives.
It is a good way to express yourself through the use of writing, (your English teacher would be proud).
How do I start to role play?
Well, first like any other type of role playing you must create a character to play as. This can be done by going to our character section and copying the "Character creation skeleton" which mainly is a layout of what needs to be put on your bio so that we all know and understand how your character is, looks, and acts.
Do I have to stick to a certain type of character?
No, that's the great thing about role playing and even more so forum role playing. Unlike most table top games, where you have to stick to the races and such that are said in the books-- you can make up just about anything you want to. The only thing stopping you, is your imagination.
Can I make more then one character?
Yes! In fact here at the Burning Twilight we encourage this! The more characters the more possibilities of seeing different sides of you as a player. Because, each character is and should be played differently.
I like clans, can I make all my characters part of the same clan and or family?
As fun as this sounds, it would probably be best if you only did a few that were linked together like that. Don't make all your characters part of each other or linked with each other, because then you get stuck in one way and it makes it harder for other players to interact with your characters if they all act, look, and have similar abilities. Remember, role playing is a creative and fun experience that stretches the mind as well as the creative juices we have flowing all through us. Don't hinder yourself by making all the same type of characters.
I'm a guy/girl, do I have to make all my characters the same sex as me?
Not at all, in fact it's more interesting to see players play a sex which is opposite to them.
What if I'm having trouble making a character or don't know what to do with it once I've created it?
Well if you are having any sort of trouble thinking of unique ideas, just ask one of our top staff members. We always have ideas to lend out, and we love doing it!
As for knowing what to do with your character, you need to first paste it onto the "Character Bio's" board so that it can be looked over and either accepted/rejected. Then from there, if your character is in fact accepted you can paste it into your very own area in the "Member Characters" Section.
If my character is rejected can I still play with that character? and what happens to my character if it doesn't get accepted?
No, you cannot play with your character even if it's pending to be approved. You must wait until it is accepted before you can post in any of the role playing boards.
If your character doesn't get accepted, you have two choices.
1. Find out why it was via PMing the staff members, which then will work with you and tell you why and what you should change so that it can be accepted.
2. Leave it alone, and it will after a week be deleted. Meaning, you will have to make another character to be approved.
If this section didn't answer all of your questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the Burning Twilight's staff members to help you out with some questions. We also have a questions board Here if you need to see if the question has already been asked or just want more input.
